A commemorative postage stamp Issued on (07/August/1971) Birth Centenary of Artist Abanindranath Tagore ( 07/August/1871 - 05/December/1951) He is the founder member of Indian society of Oriental Art and most important artist.He was also the founder of the Bengal School of Art. He was also first major exponent of Swadeshi values in Indian art.Tagore was concerned that western artistic styles were exerting too much influence on Indian painters and promoted a style based on morden interpretation of traditional Rajput and Moghul art.He was also good writer particularly for children.Popularly known as "Aban Thakur / Buro Angla/Rajkahini/Nalak /Khirer Putul/which remain popular in Bengal.
